I like Google Maps for designing our cruise routes. It is the best solution for creating custom routes by overriding the apps normal path to provide the best/quickest route.
However, there is a flaw. And that is if you access the link to route on your mobile device, Google Maps overrides our custom route and creates the best/quickest route.
We have not yet found a better solution.
In the meantime, this Blog is to help you with an alternative. This will step you through how to access turn-by-turn directions and to download them to print or send to your phone.
When you first open a custom route on your desktop/laptop you see this for example.
You can zoom in/out of the map to see the specific streets but that doesn’t help you to save the details.
To view the turn-by-turn route click on DETAILs noted in red above.
The details of our custom route are now shown in the left pane of the page and correspond to the visual map.
Next, expand each point by clicking the brackets (shown in green). The will expose each point in the route, the distances, etc.
Now you are ready to save the turn-by-turn directions. Select the printer icon shown in yellow and you can either print or change the printer selection to save as PDF.
Hope this help!
Jeff
