2022 Year in Review

As we close out 2022 and welcome in 2023, I would like to reflect on the GLCC 2022 Season.

Based on your feedback and participation, the 2022 driving season was spectacular!  If you are looking for something to do on New Year’s Day, reminisce by reviewing our Photo Gallery.

I routinely joke about the weather…because you routinely joke about my ability to pick dry and sunny days for events.  In 2022 we only had 1 event that was cancelled due to rain.  As we plan 2023, we plan to pay that trend forward.

We will continue our focus on driving events to interesting parts of our metro Detroit area.  In 2022 we visited towns such as Mason, Pickney, Grosse Isle, Harbor Beach, Milford and more.

We also continue to open doors to private collections such as Greg and Robin Ornazian, William Deary, Larry and Fran Smith and to be part of significant events like the American Speed Festival featuring Paul Borror’s new good buddy Peter Brock!

Our goal is to provide a variety of events that offer something for everyone! In all we created nearly 30 opportunities to get out and have fun together 2022.

Your feedback told us to continue this approach for 2023 and that we will.  We look forward to sharing the 2023 Event Plan in our 2023 Season Kick-off Event on February 4th at M1 Concourse.  If you have not already signed up, please do so by clicking here.

In terms of Club Health, we are 120 member families strong.  That means nearly 240 people are impacted in some shape or form by what we do as a Club.  And we have gained more new members in the past year than most years in our recent history.

Financially we are also in good health.  We have been able to subvent costs of several events this past year using carryover funds from prior years.  And will continue to selectively apply our 2022 funds balance in 2023.

We are delighted to report that for the past 4 Snake Pits at the Woodward Dream Cruise we have made varied levels of charitable donations.  This year with the help of our members, private donors for our silent auction and several cash donations, we raised $4,500 for Holy Cross Children’s Services.   Not bad for a single day!

GLCC would not be a Club if it wasn’t for the Members.  So, we thank you for hanging out with us!  The friendships developed are truly cherished!  Our passion for Shelby Cobras brought us together as friends…so mission is working!

MANY thanks to our Board.  Tony Simari our Treasurer. Bob Harvey our Secretary.  Bob Russel our Events Director and Michael Grice our VP. They are each great partners and friends.  And we welcome Clint Symons as our Events Director beginning in 2023.  We have a great Board who are UNITED in our focus to build relationships, socialize and drive our cars.

Happy New Year!

Jeff
