Details on AutoCross School
This is a great opportunity to LEARN with no pressure the art-of-AutoCross led by experts!!
Autocrossing is a non-racing, car control, driver’s skill event wherein the driver negotiates a serpentine ‘course’ defined by small poly traffic cones on a parking lot. Each vehicle is timed individually over the course, then times are compared to determine the quickest driver among a variety of classes.
The School will be conducted in a relaxed format, with graphic discussions covering vehicle dynamics, car control, seating and hand positioning, and course evaluation.
We will give driving demonstrations of topics discussed, then you will have ample opportunity to practice and get feedback throughout the day. You will also have the opportunity to be coached by experienced autocrossers.
This event is open to safe drivers in safe cars. The idea is to learn and have fun while doing it. While these types of events are generally safe, our rules require helmets be worn which comply with Snell Foundation SA2005 or newer (no motorcycle ‘M’ rated helmets, or simply DOT). We have a few loaner helmets available. No open toed shoes, for obvious reasons. Wear comfortable clothing, appropriate for the weather, considering we will be standing in an open parking lot.
In terms of car preparation, nothing special is required, whether your stock daily driver, or your street modified machine. Just be sure the tires are aired-up per the tire manufacturers top pressure, all loose objects are removed (including floor mats), and the battery is properly secured. Brakes (fluid at proper level), good tire condition, steering linkages, lugs secure, and seat belts, are among the safety checks performed at ‘tech inspection’. Vehicles must be insured, current drivers license.
Everyone on site signs the Insurance Waiver. Mufflers—no excessive noise.
Entry fee is $35.00 per driver (pay day of the event). Multi-driver cars welcome, fee is still $35.00 per driver.
Not interested in driving, but want to help/learn? Autocrossing is a 100% volunteer staffed/organized motorsport.
